Michelle Bolsonaro criticizes the PL’s approach to Ciro Gomes in Ceará: “It’s not possible that way”
Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL) made new criticisms of the Liberal Party’s approach to Ciro Gomes. At the event launching the pre-candidacy of senator Eduardo Girão (Novo) for the government of Ceará, Michelle highlighted that the party was hasty in making an alliance with “the man who is against the greatest leader of the right”.
“You are real, you don’t negotiate your values,” he told Girão. “That’s what it’s about. It’s about this alliance that you (PL) rushed to do it. Make an alliance with the man (Ciro Gomes) who is against the greatest leader of the right (Jair Bolsonaro). That doesn’t work, it doesn’t work”, he concluded.
The criticism also affected the president of the Ceará PL directory, André Fernandes, responsible for approaching Ciro in the state. “I love André, I went through many states talking about how proud I am of him (…). But making this alliance… that’s not enough.” To the press, he responded by saying that, if there was a hasty alliance, it was “a hasty alliance of her own husband”.

Flávio Bolsonaro also reacted to the former first lady’s criticism. To the column by Igor Gadelha, from Metropolisesthe senator stated that Michelle’s position was authoritarian and embarrassing.
“Michelle ran over President Bolsonaro himself, who had authorized the movement of deputy André Fernandes in Ceará. And the way she addressed him, who is perhaps our greatest local leader, was authoritarian and embarrassing”, he highlighted to the column.
Ciro’s approach to Bolsonarism is not new, but it was reinforced this year, shortly before the arrest of former president Jair Bolsonaro. Ineligible, Jair would have given approval for the PL directory in the state to support the former governor’s possible candidacy for the presidential race. In the 2024 municipal elections, Ciro supported Fernandes’ candidacy for mayor of Fortaleza, against Evandro Leitão (PT).
