Between December 26th and January 11th, the state of São Paulo will have a new commander. Felício Ramuth (PSD) will take over the government in the absence of the incumbent, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), who will go on vacation with his family.
Tarcísio’s destination, according to people close to him, will be the United States. The removal was informed last Monday (22) to the president of the Legislative Assembly, André do Prado (PL), who published the measure in the Official Gazette.

Although he has long said that he will be a candidate for re-election, his name is still being considered for the presidential race, despite the idea having lost momentum after the pre-candidacy announcement made by senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ).
Who is Felício Ramuth
Affiliated to the PSD and appointed to the position of vice by chief Gilberto Kassab, Felício Ramuth has a degree in business administration and was twice mayor of São José dos Campos. In the last election in the city, in 2020, he was elected in the first round with 58% of valid votes. Before joining Kassab’s party, Ramuth spent 28 years in the PSDB.
Right at the beginning of Tarcísio’s administration, the former tucano took over the coordination of work in the Cracolândia region, in the center, one of the main banners of the chief’s mandate.
With a good relationship with the governor, Ramuth is once again aiming for the vice position on a possible new ticket, despite also aiming for his own candidacy for the São Paulo majority in the event that Tarcísio becomes a candidate for the Palácio do Planalto.
In the case of the first option, the main obstacle to maintaining the vice position would be the desire of the president of Alesp, André do Prado, to be Tarcísio’s number 2 in 2026. In relation to the second, competition would come from the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), in addition to other names such as André do Prado himself and Gilberto Kassab.
