Lula: Brazil ends the year with ‘great news’, with ‘records’ in the economy

In a post on his account on network Among the positive news, Lula mentioned the unemployment rate, at a historic low of 5.2%, as well as the increase in the number of employed people, to 103 million.

The president also highlighted the number of people with a formal contract (39.4 million) as well as the real average income of Brazilian workers, R$3,574.

“We are going to achieve the lowest accumulated inflation in four years since the Real Plan”, Lula also mentioned in the post.

He also cited the accumulated increase in the Ibovespa in the year (34%) and the “largest appreciation of the real against the dollar since 2016”, at 11.1%.

The president also referred to the number of foreign tourists in Brazil (9 million) and the “largest net direct investment in the country since 2012”: US$84.2 billion from January to November.

“In 2026, we will remain committed to a fair, democratic and sovereign Brazil. And we will deliver much more”, added the president, before bidding farewell with

“a warm hug and a happy New Year from me and Janja to all Brazilian families”.
