Alckmin expects the EU-Mercosur pact to come into force in the second half of the year
15 Jan (Reuters) – The vice-president and minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, said this Thursday that he expects the trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union to come into force in the second half of this year.
In an interview with CanalGov’s ‘Good Morning, Minister’ program, Alckmin also said that a trade agreement between Mercosur and the United Arab Emirates is ‘in place’.

The vice-president also made the assessment that the EU-Mercosur agreement does not hinder Brazil’s trade negotiations with the United States and said that the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva continues to seek to reduce trade tariffs imposed by Washington.
