Papudinha, who now receives Bolsonaro, has Silvinei Vasques and Anderson Torres arrested
The prison of the 19th Military Police Battalion of the Federal District, known as Papudinha, which now hosts former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), is also the place where others convicted of the coup attempt are serving their sentences.
Papudinha is located within the Papuda Penitentiary Complex, in the Federal District. The place is intended for the arrest of police officers and politically exposed people.
‘It’s not enough’: allies demand house calls for Bolsonaro after PF transfer
Bolsonarists recognize that the change represents an improvement in relation to the Federal Police Superintendence, but it is still treated as insufficient
Moraes authorizes the installation of a guardrail and support bar on Bolsonaro’s bed
Authorization is contained in the order that determined the transfer of the former president of the PF, where he is currently imprisoned, to Papudinha
The former head of the Federal Highway Police (PRF) in the Bolsonaro government, Silvinei Vasques, is imprisoned in Papudinha. He was sentenced to 24 years and six months in prison for being part of the management core of the 2022 coup plan and for using the corporation to interfere in the elections.
Made for you!
Silvinei would have requested intelligence reports to mount operations that would make it difficult for voters in the Northeast, the historic stronghold of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), to vote.
Another prisoner at Papudinha is Anderson Torres, federal police officer and former Bolsonaro Minister of Justice. He was sentenced to 24 years in prison for his involvement in the coup plot.
The space has capacity for four prisoners, but will be reserved exclusively for the former minister, as a General Staff Room. Torres is working in the penitentiary system, signed up for technical courses and has been reading books to reduce his sentence.
Among the books that Torres and other inmates in the Federal District can read and review to reduce their sentence are I’m still here, by Marcelo Rubens Paiva, which tells of the disappearance of former deputy Rubens Paiva during the dictatorship; Democracy, by Philip Bunting; Crime and Punishment, by Fyodor Dostoevsky; and The Autobiography of Martin Luther King, by Martin Luther King.
As others convicted by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) are military personnel or people who held lesser positions, they were sent to other prisons.
Federal Supreme Court (STF) minister Alexandre de Moraes mentions the existence of a “fraudulent campaign” against the Judiciary and complaints from Jair Bolsonaro’s family members in the decision to send the former president to Papudinha.
Moraes ordered this Thursday, the 15th, the transfer of Bolsonaro from the General Staff room at the Federal Police Superintendence in Brasília to the 19th Military Police Battalion of the Federal District.
The minister claims that the new cell will allow access to an area five times larger; laundry, kitchen and outdoor area; five meals offered by the unit (compared to the current three in the PF); possibility of practicing physical exercises; extension of visiting hours; on-site health post; and ample space to receive visitors. The new cell has a total area of 64.83 m², of which 54.76 m² are covered and 10.07 m² are external.
