Gleisi accepts Lula’s request to run for the Senate in Paraná, say allies
Minister Gleisi Hoffmann, from the Secretariat of Institutional Relations, accepted the request of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to run for the Senate in Paraná, according to allies interviewed by GLOBO this Tuesday. When contacted, the minister’s advisors did not respond.
The meeting with Lula took place last Wednesday. Allies claim that Gleisi accepted the challenge on the same day and “would be excited” about the possibility of running for the Senate. She already intended to leave the office to run for the Chamber of Deputies, an election seen as more certain due to the greater number of seats at stake.

The assessment in the PT is that a ticket with Requião Filho (PDT) for the state government and Gleisi for the Senate “will become very competitive” and leaves the governor and possible opponent of Lula for Planalto Ratinho Júnior (PSD) “busy” with the state elections in Paraná.
Made for you!
Last month, representatives of the PT state directory in Paraná announced their support for the candidacy of state deputy Requião Filho to build an alliance against senator Sergio Moro (União), who is leading the polls, and Ratinho Júnior, who is expected to nominate a successor.
The group also includes the president of Itaipu Binacional, Enio Verri (PT), an ally of minister Gleisi Hoffmann. He was even considered internally to run for both the state government and the Senate, but he should run for the Chamber in October.
