MDB Woman repudiates party affiliation and Dado Dolabella’s pre-candidacy
This Thursday, MDB Mulher published a note rejecting the affiliation and launch of Dado Dolabella’s pre-candidacy for federal deputy for Rio de Janeiro. The actor’s entry into the party was announced this week in a video published by the party’s state president and former mayor of Duque de Caxias (RJ), Washington Reis, but the content was subsequently deleted. The artist has already responded and was convicted of allegations of violence against women.
“I received with shock, surprise and disgust the news of the affiliation of the actor Dado Dolabella, a man who abuses women, as the whole of Brazil knows him”, said the statement released by the national president of the wing of the party focused on female leaders, Kátia Lôbo.

In the statement, she also classified the moment as “extremely delicate and serious” and mentioned the records of femicides and chaos of aggressions recorded. “In the middle of March, known for being ‘women’s month’, receiving this type of news is something that revolts and goes against everything that MDB Mulher wants to convey to women”, concluded the statement.
In the video announcing his candidacy, Reis described Dolabella as a “television actor, family man, a man who is committed to his family and the good principles of society”. After the negative repercussion of the post, the publication was deleted from the emedebista page. Last month, he nominated his sister, Jane Reis, as a candidate for vice on the ticket of Mayor Eduardo Paes (PSD) in the dispute for state government.
The day after announcing his candidacy, Dolabella posted a video saying that he decided to enter politics because he had experienced “firsthand what it is like to be wronged”. In the recording, he also declared support for the candidacy of senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) for the presidency of the Republic.
— I believe in strengthening families, firmly combating crime and improving laws, so that they are not instruments of injustice. And I make it clear that I believe that Flávio Bolsonaro is today the name that most aligns with the ideas that I defend for Brazil. Therefore, I intend to support him as a presidential candidate — says Dolabella, who states in the recording “to defend those who don’t have a voice”.
Last year, the actor was sentenced by the Rio de Janeiro Court to 2 years and 4 months in open detention for attacks against his ex-girlfriend Marina Dolabella, who is also his cousin, during a fight in 2020. Previously, in 2018, he was convicted and served an open sentence of 2 months and fifteen days for insulting his ex-wife Viviane Sarahyba. In 2008, he was also reported for assault by his ex-girlfriend and actress Luana Piovani. In July 2013, the case was closed by the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro after the investigation, without conviction.
