Edinho Silva: PT presents the most ‘successful’ minister of the Lula government to the SP election
The national president of the PT, Edinho Silva, stated this Thursday, the 19th, that the PT presents the “most successful minister” of the government of president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for the dispute for the government of São Paulo. Edinho’s statement took place during the ceremony announcing the pre-candidacy of the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, for the Palácio dos Bandeirantes.
“He was able to understand the project defended by President Lula and translate this project into the changes that our economy so needed. We want to present to the State of São Paulo a first-rate picture of our party so that we can not only debate the direction of the State of São Paulo but so that we can convince the people that we want a developed State”, stated Edinho.
Alckmin: Haddad is a person dedicated to serving SP as a great governor

Lula: To my delight, Haddad nominated himself to be governor of SP
Lula said he had spoken to the minister that “the political situation in the world is so serious” that not taking action could mean handing over the country to what he called “fascists”.
According to Edinho, Haddad will govern São Paulo in line with President Lula’s fourth term. The president of the PT highlighted the symbolism of the announcement taking place at the headquarters of the ABC Metalworkers Union, in São Bernardo do Campo (SP), where Lula began his union career.
“Here is the cradle of this entire project that we are debating today, here is the cradle of this entire project that we are building in Brazil because this is where the trajectory of President Lula, the greatest political leader in the democratic world, begins,” stated Edinho, who announced that his presence at the union was to announce Haddad’s candidacy to “lead” the project in the largest state in the country.
The PT president also said that the 2026 elections will be a choice between “peace and authoritarianism” and that it is impossible to change Brazil without changing the game of power in São Paulo. According to him, it will be a definition of whether the country will continue to reorganize public policies.
“We are living in a moment of advance of authoritarian thought, of advance of the ultra-right and, unfortunately, of fascism. We are living in a moment where violence prevails, wars and aggressions spread. Therefore, a moment of defining the direction of the world, and also the direction of Brazil”, said the PT president.
Edinho participates in the announcement of Haddad’s candidacy for the government of São Paulo. In addition to the two, President Lula and the president of the PT state directory, federal deputy Kiko Celeguim, participated in the ceremony, held at the ABC Metalworkers Union, in São Bernardo do Campo (SP).
Haddad was convinced by Lula to run for governor of São Paulo, after the minister conveyed his desire to lead the PT member’s campaign for re-election. The president wants to have a strong platform in the state because he understands that it is necessary to win votes in the largest electoral college in the country to be able to defeat his main opponent, senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ).
