Rapporteur for the nomination of Jorge Messias to the STF presents a favorable opinion

The rapporteur for the nomination of Jorge Messias to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) in the Senate, Weverton Rocha (PDT-MA), presented a favorable opinion to the one chosen by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

In his seven-page report, Weverton declares that Messias meets the necessary requirements to take the position.

He evaluated criteria such as nepotism, participation in companies, fiscal regularity, legal actions, performance in courts and on boards of directors of state-owned companies or management of regulated agencies.

It also states that Lula’s minister of the Attorney General’s Office (AGU) meets the constitutional requirements regarding an unblemished reputation and notable legal knowledge to hold the position of minister of the STF.
