The surgery went well, according to the medical report.

Bolsonaro performed an “arthroscopic repair of the rotator cuff on the right”, related to the right shoulder joint. The former president, who is under house arrest for an attempted coup d’état after the 2022 elections, complained of recurring pain that required daily use of painkillers.

Bolsonaro’s defense asked for authorization for the former president to have the surgery on April 21st and the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, allowed it on Thursday, the 30th.

After the surgery was over, the cardiologist on the medical team treating Bolsonaro, Brasil Caiado, stated upon leaving the hospital that the surgery took three hours and that there is no forecast for the ex-president’s discharge.
