Zema says that children will be able to work if elected president: 'We will change that'

The pre-candidate for president of the Republic, Romeu Zema (Novo-MG), stated that he is in favor of the adoption of regional minimum wages in Brazil, on the grounds that Brazil has large economic and social differences between the States.

“I am very in favor of the regional minimum wage, as we already had in Brazil. We have a very different country from North to South”, he stated in an interview with the program Free Channel.

Currently, Brazil has a unified national minimum wage, adjusted annually by the federal government. However, the legislation allows States to establish regional salary floors for certain professional categories that do not have a floor defined in a convention or collective bargaining agreement.

Some States, such as São Paulo, adopted regional minimum wage models in different periods and sectors of activity.
