Caiado says he and Zema are considering joining forces in the first round
Pre-candidate for president, Ronaldo Caiado (PSD) said this Wednesday (27) that there is a possibility of him and fellow pre-candidate Romeu Zema (Novo) joining together on a single ticket. The statement came one day after Zema himself also admitted the possibility.
Despite acknowledging that they discussed the alliance, neither of them said who would give in and accept being the vice-president.
“With the last survey we talked about, there is this feeling and he is an open person. So, we are really evaluating this”, said Caiado in an interview with Nova Difusora radio.
“At this moment, the two candidates (Flávio and Lula) are in a position, we are humble to recognize, well above us. When we join forces, will they only be able to arrive strong in the second round or will they be able to be competitive in the first round?”, he added.

The president stated that the objective is to recover the privatized units at a fair value, in addition to jokingly suggesting a partnership between Petrobras and Pemex in the Gulf of Mexico to challenge Trump
Zema, who has already been speculated as a possible vice-president of Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), has stated that he will take his candidacy to the end. Asked on Tuesday whether he would accept being Caiado’s deputy, the Minas Gerais native joked: “Couldn’t it be the other way around?”
The Novo pre-candidate indicated that the definition of alliances should occur later, as the political scenario evolves.
“These conversations always take place and, with all certainty, the outcome of this will be on the deadline. Because, in politics, it is at midnight on the deadline that things are usually defined, unfortunately”, he stated, in reference to the Electoral Court calendar, which establishes August 15th as the deadline for registering candidacies.
In the latest Datafolha survey, Caiado scored 4% of voting intentions and Zema, 3%. They are far from President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), with 40%, and Flávio, who had 31%.
