The scrutiny in Israel has ended: Netanyahu won the elections and sent winks to Javier Milei
The legislative elections in Israel left a scene of political uncertainty despite the fact that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s party, the Likud, won at the polls. After the vote was completed, the ruling party obtained 27 of the 120 seats in the Knesset, compared to 21 for Yashar, the party led by its main rival, Gadi Eisenkot. However, none of the blocs achieved the majority necessary to form a government.
The bloc allied with Netanyahu reached 53 seats, eight less than the 61 needed to govern, while the opposition led by Eisenkot obtained 48 seats. For their part, the Arab parties achieved a historic representation of 19 legislators, which could make them decisive actors during the negotiations to form a new coalition.
Although the vote count has already ended, the results must still be verified and officially announced on November 4. From then on, a new stage of negotiations between political forces will begin, with the possibility that Israel will have to call the polls again if no candidate manages to gather the necessary support to form a government.
