After PF indicates favoritism to Refit, state revenue dismisses 40 employees

In response to the Federal Police operation that last week highlighted a favoritism scheme for the Refit refinery during the previous administration, the State Department of Finance decided to carry out a profound restructuring of the State Revenue’s staff, as anticipated in the blog of journalist Ancelmo Gois, from O GLOBO. The change begins with around 40 dismissals in various command roles in the area, including superintendencies, specialized and regional tax audits, published in the Official State Gazette which is circulating this Wednesday.

The objective of the measure, according to the interim government, is to carry out a rigorous investigation of the facts and hold those involved in irregularities responsible, if the suspicions are confirmed. According to the secretariat, the employees involved were removed from their duties and it was determined that access to systems and databases of those involved would be canceled to protect fiscal secrecy, as well as the opening of administrative disciplinary proceedings. Furthermore, the computer used by the former Finance Secretary was reserved in case of a possible request from the authorities to assist in the investigations.

The assessment was that the initial attack, although consistent with its anti-corruption speech, produced wear and tear in places where the party depends on the Bolsonarist electorate.

The measures already adopted include the opening of an extraordinary correction in the entire specialized fuel audit and an inspection to investigate irregularities in the granting of tax incentives to Refit. The secretariat also promises to carry out specific inspections for all companies mentioned in the report. New measures will be announced in the coming days.

New Chief of Staff and Undersecretary of IT

The new Chief of Staff and Undersecretary for Information and Communication Technology were also appointed this Monday. The tax auditor is not responsible. Lucas Salvetti, graduated in Administration and with extensive experience in monitoring the transit of goods, with an emphasis on combating structured fraud. The Undersecretary of Information and Communication Technology returns to the hands of a server.

Tax auditor Gabriel Blum resumes the position he previously held between 2020 and 2025. One of the functions of the area is to guarantee tax secrecy and, by law, only auditors can have access to this protected data.
