Alckmin: priority is to guarantee fuel supply; We don't control wars

The vice-president and minister of Development, Industry and Commerce, Geraldo Alckmin, stated this Saturday, the 14th, that the government’s priority is to guarantee the fuel supply in the country in view of the rise in the price of a barrel of oil due to the war in the Middle East. He participates in a visit to the Scania dealership near Brasília.

“The government, concerned about the well-being of Brazilians, took two important measures. First, guarantee supply. A priority is not to run out of fuel. Guarantee supply”, he stated.

He mentioned that the federal government’s PIS/Cofins cut was to avoid domestic price spikes in diesel, criticizing past measures in which the ICMS was cut, generating judicialization and losses for the States.

In the case of the export tax created by the government, Alckmin stated that it is regulatory due to the jump in international prices.

“The federal government did its part, zeroed PIS/Cofins and introduced a subsidy. And as there was a huge jump in the value of a barrel of oil, the government introduced a regulatory export tax, in order to have more balance”, he added.
