Alckmin says government wants permanent fund to renew truck fleet
The Vice President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin, stated that the government is working to structure a permanent fleet renewal fund, with the participation of Petrobras (PETR4) and BNDES, to guarantee the continuous equalization of interest rates in truck financing. According to him, the Mover program has already contracted R$4.2 billion as of last Friday and still has more than half of the planned resources, R$10 billion.
Until yesterday, 4.2 billion had already been contracted. We still have more than half,” said Alckmin, defending the continuity of public policy. “We need a permanent fleet renewal program. That’s what we have to do.”

The vice president explained that the objective is to create a fund capable of sustaining lower interest rates in a structural way. “We are working with Petrobras to see the creation of a fund with Petrobras and BNDES. We need a fund of resources to equalize the interest rate permanently”, he stated.
During a speech at a Mercedes-Benz dealership in São Paulo, Alckmin recalled that the truck sector, especially heavy trucks, suffered a drop in sales due to financing rates that reached 22% to 24% per year. To face the problem, the government structured Mover, a R$10 billion program, with interest rates between 12% and 13.5%.
