Alexandre Silveira once again defends strengthening of Defense and exploration of uranium

The Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, once again defended this Saturday, 8th, the need to strengthen Brazilian Defense and the exploration of uranium.

In a speech during his participation in an event about the launch of a clean energy generation system in Fernando de Noronha (PE), the minister said that Brazil has the complete uranium chain and large reserves, and should advance in the segment.

“We have technology, we already produce fuel here, this technology is important to strengthen our Defense”, he said, also mentioning the development of the Brazilian nuclear submarine.

He argued that part of the royalties from uranium exploration should go towards strengthening the Armed Forces.

“We are going to strengthen them, because this is important for the security of our sovereignty, for strengthening our borders, to help us in specific cases, for our public security,” he said.

“I am one of those who think that, unfortunately, – they want to hope not, but – a country like Brazil needs to increasingly strengthen its defense”, he added.
