Alongside Tarcísio, Bolsonaro says he has no replacement and will be a candidate in 2026
Despite being ineligible until 2030, by decision of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), the former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) He demonstrated confidence, this Tuesday (22), that he will be the right-wing candidate for Palácio do Planalto in the 2026 elections.
In a press conference, after participating in a lunch in support of the candidacy for re-election of the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB)Bolsonaro said that there is no name, at this moment, that can replace him and has the strength to stand up to the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT)who can run for a new term.
“Who is Lula’s replacement in Brazil, in politics? It does not have. And Bolsonaro? There are a lot out there. I collaborated, I was the biggest leader, I’m very happy with that, I ran a good government, the people recognize it. I am welcomed by a crowd anywhere in Brazil. People miss me. I am the most loved ex in Brazil,” said Bolsonaro.

In his first term as governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio will still be able to run for re-election to Palácio dos Bandeirantes, if he so wishes, in 2026. In theory, he can wait until 2030 to seek the Presidency.
