Alternatives that sectors are trying to plan after tariff
Exceptions to orange and wood juice relieves the sector a little, which seeks for productions that have not been taxed. According to Oliveira, up to 30% of applications, sowing, pesticide application and forest fires are served by agricultural aviation, which shows that there is a potential for growth. “It has a lot to move forward and that’s what will end up happening, because the producer himself will ask for productivity and the way to solve it is through air application,” he adds.
Leather industry wants help
Leather component industry asks for assistance, as in the Covid-19 pandemic. “The time is to preserve companies and, above all, the jobs generated by them. Today, the scenario is worrying, especially when we talk about indirect exports, carried out by customers of our companies, especially footwear and tanners,” commented Silvana Dilly, Superintendent of Assintecal (Brazilian Association of Component Companies for Leather, Footwear and Artifacts). The government studies the possibility of aid, but Finance Minister Fernando Haddad cited only the support given during the climate crisis suffered by Rio Grande do Sul last year.
80% of leather sales go to the footwear industry, which will be charged a total of 50% from August 6. According to Silvana, leather chemicals will also be reached indirectly, as tannings account for over 60% of segment sales. According to CICB (Center of Curtumes Industries of Brazil), in 2024 the US occupied second place among the largest Brazilian leather importers, with 13.3% participation in values. In 2025, until June, the country remained in the vice-leadership, with 13.6%.
Components and chemists of the sector are also exported, albeit on a smaller scale. Until June, according to Assintecal, Brazil directly exported US $ 2.7 million to the United States, representing a significant growth of 30% compared to the same period of the previous year. With over 3,000 companies, the segment employs, directly, more than 80 thousand people.
Coffee sector wants inclusion in the exception list
Coffee keeps optimism and believes it is possible to reverse taxation. “At the negotiation table, every time earned is valid,” said the Brazilian Coffee Industry Association) in a statement. The entity said the negotiations “are far away” of being finalized and that list of exceptions has given a “sign of hope.” “We have in recent history of trade relations cases from other countries with reversals of tariff climbing. We will continue to collaborate with the authorities, relying on Brazilian diplomacy, taking the possible measures together with the actors involved and betting on the economic and social force of coffee to the US,” he added.
