American democracy is threatened and Trump uses chaos as a method
Revealing was the sentence of John Coughenour, federal judge, who overthrew one of Trump’s measures. “It is becoming increasingly evident that, for our president, the rule of law is just an impediment to its political goals. The rule of law is, according to him, something to navigate or simply ignore, either for political or personal gain,” he wrote .
As a tsunami that meticulously destroys each building where it passes, its government landed with a sophisticated offensive: the dissemination of chaos as a political strategy.
His speeches permeated with hatred and lies threw entire communities to a feeling of fear. In recent days, I’ve found immigrants who have failed to send their children to schools, with members of the LGBT community who fear taking to the streets, with groups that have had nightmares for the nights and days.
What is living in many US corners is a trauma.
None of this is the result of improvisation. By generating a climate of uncertainty, rupture and fear, Trump sows chaos as a method to cause the disorientation of any kind of resistance and the organization of trenches against the dismantling of the rule of law.
While chaos and passivity imposed are realities, at least for now, what Trump does is promoting profound transformations.
