Another 124 Brazilians repatriated from the USA arrive in Brazil
The Brazilian government carried out on Wednesday (31) another humanitarian reception operation for Brazilians repatriated from the United States. The flight, with 124 people on board, landed around 8 pm at Belo Horizonte International Airport, in Confins (MG), according to information released by the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship (MDHC).
Since the beginning of the year, the “Aqui é Brasil” program has already carried out 37 operations, guaranteeing the return of more than 3 thousand Brazilians in vulnerable situations. It is almost double the 1,600 repatriations in 2024
The Brazilians received by the Brazilian government come mostly from the United States, according to the ministry.
Mass deportations were one of United States President Donald Trump’s campaign promises, with repercussions also for Brazilians, who had already seen the growth of such measures over the last few years.
In the case of the last repatriation, after the initial reception at the airport, part of the group was sent to the hotel that houses the special service structure, where the repatriates received food, hygiene kits, psychosocial support, medical and psychological support, as well as guidance and assistance in traveling to their cities of origin.
According to the ministry, those who already had family there or chose to continue their journey directly were also welcomed at the airport itself. Furthermore, three people were detained by the Federal Police (PF) – The Ministry did not specify the reasons.
In total, 108 unaccompanied men were repatriated in the most recent operation, in addition to 15 unaccompanied women. There was also one man wanted by the courts, totaling 124 people.
The largest group is the 40 to 49 year old group, with 50 people, followed by the 18 to 29 year old group, which has 35 records, and the 30 to 39 year old group, with 24 people. The older age groups appear less expressively. There were no records of children or adolescents.
“Aqui é Brasil” is a humanitarian reception program coordinated by the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship in partnership with other federal bodies, such as the ministries of Foreign Affairs (MRE), Development and Social Assistance, Family and Combating Hunger (MDS), Health (MS) and Justice and Public Security (MJSP).
