Apple and Google block apps that warn immigration agents
Apple gave in to an authoritarian regime, said Joshua Aaron, creator of the application. He said he launched the tool in April as a way to help immigrants protect themselves from surprise approaches or possible harassments. The app had over 1 million users, according to the developer.
Google said it has removed several similar apps. According to the company, these tools violated policies for Android platforms.
Brazilians use similar apps
Brazilians use applications to dodge immigration agents in the US, as shown by the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo in February. Padlet, one of the tools they used, allows users to publish information about the location of real -time immigration agents.
At the time, associations also intended to create their own alert services. Posters have been distributed in various locations with telephone numbers that may be useful if someone meets an immigrant stuck in surprise approaches.
