At an event in SP, Haddad celebrates Brazil’s 2nd place in foreign investments
The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, celebrated the fact that Brazil is the second country that receives the most foreign investment in the world, when participating in the official launch of the CNBC television network in São Paulo on Friday night.
“Brazil is the second destination country for foreign investment in the world, and it is good to know that a company of this quality (CNBC) has finally chosen Brazil to invest in the quality of its professionals and the quality of the news and reports it will broadcast” , commented Haddad during the event.
A report from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) reported that Brazil was the second main destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in 2023.
According to the Ministry of Development, Industry and Commerce (Mdic), according to OECD data, 64 billion dollars in investments entered Brazil last year, an amount lower than the 341 billion dollars recorded by the United States.
In a quick speech, the minister congratulated this Friday on the arrival of CNBC in Brazil. In his speech he did not address issues that have permeated the economic news in recent weeks, such as negotiations within the government to announce spending containment measures.
Also participating in the event were vice-president Geraldo Alckmin, the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), the minister of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Lewandowski, and the president of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Luís Roberto Barroso, among other authorities.
Next week Haddad will be traveling to Europe.
