“Believe us in us”: Right governors project field alliance in 2026

The 2026 electoral dispute was one of the most recurring topics during the discussions of the Expert XP 2025largest investment event in the world, held by XP Inc. (XPBR31) last week. The force of the right to face the left in the presidential election was calculated and measured in various panels, and in one of them in particular: what gathered on the same stage the governors Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil-GO), Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans-SP) and Ratinho Júnior (PSD-PR), representatives of this political spectrum.

The three showed having different positions about the convenience of launching a unique right -wing candidacy in the first round of the election. At the same time, they emphasized that they are today in the positions they occupy because they knew how to do politics throughout their trajectories.

“I ask you to believe us, we know how to do politics,” Caiado said during the panel, held on Saturday morning (26). “We will know how to have a first round, and in the second round we will realize that the Brazilian right will be victorious.”

Caiado argued that there is no concentration of forces in a single name already in the first round. The governor of Goiás evaluates that this would make the right candidate an easy target for the public machine led by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT).

“If you have three candidates, there is no way to reach everyone. One will reach the second round, and everyone else will be together,” he said.

Ratinho pointed out that in a system with two shifts, it is natural that each party wants to launch their own candidate, at least at the beginning. “It is a process that requires time. The most important thing is that, whoever reaches the second round, will have the competence to gather everyone.”

The governor of São Paulo, in turn, argued that the union of forces is what will allow to overcome the election and promote structuring reforms. “The good news is that the national project is above all vanities,” he said. “I preach, yes, the union – and that is when it is, with wisdom to define the best strategy. Brazil deserves it.”
