Bolsonarists tie with petistas for the first time in a historical series of Datafolha

For the first time since the beginning of Datafolha’s historical series, pockets and petistas tied in a percentage of popular identification. According to a survey released on Wednesday (18), 35% of Brazilians claim to be closer to former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), even percentage of those who identify with the PT of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

The research marks a turn. In April, petistas totaled 39%, while the pockets had 31%. The four -point decrease between Lula’s supporters and the four -point increase between Bolsonaro’s occurred at the end of the two percentage margin of error, indicating real growth of the pockets and falling from petistas.

Datafolha: 67% reject Bolsonaro’s candidacy and 66% believe in Lula’s reelection

Proud to be Brazilian falls and pessimism increases, shows Datafolha

Since December 2022, the institute has applied the same question in nine surveys. Respondents respond on a (pocketist) scale to five (petista), being classified at the ends of polarization according to their answers. Those who indicate three are considered neutral – currently represent 20% of the population. Another 7% say they do not identify with either side, and 2% could not answer.

Reduction of PT support occurs amid increased Lula government disapproval. Datafolha’s previous survey showed that 40% of Brazilians evaluate the current term as bad or bad, while 28% consider it good or great. The scenario presses the Secretariat of Communication, which still seeks a mark for the third petista term.

On the other hand, former President Bolsonaro’s recent exhibition in STF testimonials does not seem to have negatively impacted his base. He is a defendant on charges of attempted coup after the 2022 election, but maintained the growth of popular support.

The survey was held in person on June 10 and 11, covering 136 municipalities in all regions of the country, with 2,004 interviews conducted.
