Bolsonaro is swollen and irritated in the hospital, says Carlos
Former Rio councilor Carlos Bolsonaro (PL) stated on Sunday night that his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro, who is admitted to the ICU at the DF Star Hospital, in Brasília, with bronchopneumonia, is swollen due to the antibiotics he has been taking and that he is “irritated by everything that is happening”.
Bolsonaro, who has been imprisoned in Papudinha since January this year, was hospitalized in Brasília on Friday, when he was diagnosed with bronchopneumonia. The former president was sentenced by the Federal Supreme Court to 27 years and three months in prison for crimes against democracy.
Bolsonaro is stable and has improved kidney function, says hospital
This Sunday’s bulletin, however, points to a new increase in inflammatory markers and maintenance of intensive treatment
Defense awaits new report to request Bolsonaro’s house arrest, says Flávio
According to Flávio, Bolsonaro remains weakened, with a haggard appearance, weakened voice and persistent hiccups
“His body is visibly very swollen, due to the antibiotics, and his psychological state remains naturally irritated by everything that is happening,” said Carlos Bolsonaro on a social network.
“Still, we are walking with some information that will need to evolve quickly with the lawyers, even if they are finding it difficult to visit the president. The idea is to accelerate yet another action that guarantees, first and foremost, the preservation of his life”, continues Bolsonaro’s son.
Carlos also said that he spoke with the former president’s medical team and that they “were very clear” in saying that “another hour or two in the state he was in and, most likely, death would have occurred”.
The report, however, is not supported by the reports from the medical team treating Bolsonaro in Papudinha, which were presented to the Federal Supreme Court on Saturday.
Reports from the medical team on duty at the Papudinha penitentiary show that the former president had a hiccup on Thursday night, but that he did not want to take medication immediately and told those on duty that he would take the medication “after the game”, possibly referring to the match between Vasco and Palmeiras.
Then, during the early hours of the morning, the former president had “nausea and tremors”, and was taken this Friday morning to the DF Star hospital, where he is admitted to the ICU to treat pneumonia caused by bronchoaspiration.
The most recent medical bulletin released by DF STar, this Sunday, says that Bolsonaro “remains hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (…) undergoing treatment for bilateral bacterial pneumonia resulting from an episode of bronchoaspiration”. The former president “evolved with clinical stability and improved kidney function, but with a new increase in inflammatory markers in the blood”, the document continues.
As a result of these changes, the medical team reported the “need to expand antibiotic coverage”. Bolsonato continues to have no expected discharge from the ICU, in addition to having “intensive clinical support and intensified respiratory and motor physiotherapy”.
Until the beginning of March, Bolsonaro was entitled to 144 medical services in prison, an average of three consultations per day.
