Bolsonaro’s allies say Temer for the security of Zambelli in Italian prison
A group of allied parliamentarians by Jair Bolsonaro (PL) went to the Rebibbia Women’s Penitentiary in Rome to visit federal deputy Licensed Carla Zambelli (PL-SP), arrested since July in Italy after fleeing Brazil shortly after being convicted by the Supreme Court (STF).
Visitors include Senators Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), Damares Alves (Republicans-DF), Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE), Magno Malta (PL-ES) and Deputy Cabo Gilberto (PL-PB). The visit lasted about two hours, a maximum time allowed by the penitentiary.
The parliamentarians said Temer for the safety of Zambelli. According to Girão, the deputy divides cell with other detainees, including a convict for murder. Damares Alves stated that the health of the former parliamentarian is fragile and that any conflicts between prey could put his integrity at risk.

Flávio Bolsonaro, in turn, intensified criticism of STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes, whom he called the “violator of rights”. The senator said he will seek a meeting with Italy’s Minister of Justice, in a agenda that will also include Italian ultra-right leader Matteo Salvini, vice-minister.
“I appeal to the Italian Justice Minister: Just as Brazil has answered a claim from Italy in the Battisti case, we ask Carla to be prison here. In Brazil, she will be persecuted and will have her rights violated by Alexandre de Moraes,” said Flávio.
International support
Bolsonarists also organize a meeting in Rome, supported by right -wing militants living in Italy, Switzerland, France and the United States. The group supports the thesis that Zambelli is the victim of political persecution.
The former deputy was sentenced to 10 years in prison for invasion of computer device and ideological falsehood, in a scheme that involved hacker Walter Delgatti Neto. The decision was unanimous in the first class of the Supreme Court.
The Italian court, however, has already denied an appeal that asked for Zambelli’s provisional freedom during the extradition process. The judges pointed to concrete risk of escape, noting that the parliamentarian entered Italy on June 5, one day after the definitive conviction, and said repeatedly not trusting the Brazilian courts.
