Tariff

It is still early to evaluate, but it is possible that Bolsonaro’s arrest impacts the still incipient negotiations on the tariff against Brazil decreed by US President Donald Trump.

If confirmed, it is bad news for the national business community.

After announcing the imposition of 50% surcharge against Brazilian products, Trump gave signs that he wanted to talk.

American authorities were beginning to dialogue with their counterparts in Brazil, an important list of products were included among the exceptions, and the US representative said he would have no problem talking to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

On Sunday at a PT event, Lula was also committed and said he “has a limit for the fight with Trump.”
