Bolsonaro’s surgery ends uneventfully, reports Michelle
The surgery of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) was completed in the early afternoon of this Thursday (25), at the DF Star hospital, in Brasília. The information was released by former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro, who stated, in a post on social media at 1:55 pm, that the procedure ended “without complications” and that the patient was awaiting recovery from anesthesia.
The procedure began around 9am and lasted around four hours. According to a medical bulletin released the day before, Bolsonaro was admitted for elective surgery after undergoing pre-operative exams, including cardiological assessment and surgical risk analysis. The team considered the former president fit for the intervention, which was carried out under general anesthesia.

Doctors diagnosed bilateral inguinal hernia, a condition in which there is projection of abdominal tissue through areas of muscle weakness in the groin region, on both sides.
Surgical correction consisted of closing these openings and reinforcing the abdominal abdominal wall, generally using a synthetic mesh, a biocompatible material that reduces the chance of recurrence.
Bolsonaro underwent bilateral inguinal herniorrhaphy using a conventional technique. The team opted for this method instead of laparoscopy, considering that it would be the most appropriate approach for the patient’s clinical condition.
The hospital also informed that the need for additional postoperative procedures, such as possible anesthetic block of the phrenic nerve, will be analyzed according to clinical evolution.
