Brazil criticizes US sanctions against Cuba in UN vote

In a provocation, the Cubans warned the ambassador that he was not in a chat group. The diplomat was one of Donald Trump’s trusted men at the beginning of the Republican’s government. But, by mistake, he placed a journalist in a chat with the highest US authorities regarding military planning.

The group ended up exchanging data on military attacks by the US, which was revealed by the press. Waltz couldn’t resist the scandal and fell. But he was placed as American ambassador to the UN.

This Tuesday, he responded to the Cuban, insisting that this was not a chamber of deputies of a communist country either. According to him, “the facts are that this is an illegitimate and brutal regime that seeks to present itself as a victim of aggression, while clearly describing itself as an ‘enemy of the United States.’

“It is located just 145 kilometers from our coast, conspires and collaborates with enemies and adversaries of the United States against our interests. The facts are that this regime supports terrorist organizations around the world. It is allowing mercenaries to fight the war in Ukraine. It is supporting the Venezuelan regime and assisting cartels,” Waltz charged.

“The facts are that these cartels that he supports are trafficking people, drugs and weapons, and are aiding and abetting instability in our hemisphere,” he insisted. For him, Havana “undermines democracies in our hemisphere.”

“I would suggest that our member states stop appeasing the regime with their votes and instead use that vote to send a message to the world,” he argued. “I would encourage you to send a message to the regime in Havana and the Cuban people. Stop using this vote to blame them and the United States for all your economic problems,” he charged.
