The governor of the state of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans-SP) expressed his lament in post at X (former Twitter), mentioning that Francis left a “legacy of kindness.”

The governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo-MG), also expressed regret through a post in the X. ”His humility and courage inspired the world. Minas Gerais thanks and pays tribute to this great man who made faith a path of hope and love,” wrote Zema, in his account on the social network.

The governor of Rio Grande do Sul (PSDB-RS), Eduardo Leite, praised, via social networks, simplicity, listening and the welcome capacity of Pope Francis.

“There are people who come into history not for what they say, but for the silence they break. Pope Francis was like this: his voice broke deep silences. Silences in the face of injustice, silences in the face of human suffering, silences in the face of intolerance and exclusion,” Posted Leite, X.

“Francis leaves a unique legacy: he has shown that strength is in humility, that true power is in service, and that no transformation is possible without dialogue, welcome and deep respect for human dignity.”

The governor of Bahia, Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT-BA), referred to Francis as “one of the greatest references of faith, humanity and courage of our time.” “Pope Francis was the voice of the poor, of the forgotten, the most needed justice and dignity,” Jerome posted in the X. “May we continue honoring their memory with concrete attitudes, building a more just, human and solidarity society. Rest in peace, Holy Father.”

The governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Claudio Castro (PL-RJ) expressed that Francis approached the Catholic Church of all peoples. “The world is, today, with a heart tight for Pope Francis’s departure. The emptiness left by him seems irreplaceable,” Castro told a note distributed to the press. “Your example inspires us to build a more fraternal and solidary world.”

The governor of Espírito Santo, Renato Casagrande (PSB-ES), informed via social networks to have decreed official mourning of three days in the state in memory of Pope Francis. “I get the news of the Holy Father’s departure with great sadness. He leaves us a legacy of simplicity, compassion and courage, a church close to the most vulnerable and firmly positioned in the face of the great challenges of world politics,” Casagrande wrote in the X. “His firm voice in defense of the most vulnerable, his faith combined with courage and simplicity have touched the world.”

The governor of Rio Grande do Norte, Fatima Bezerra (PT-RN), expressed in a social network that Francis’ “tireless struggle” for peace, social justice and human dignity “touched the heart of millions”. “Pope Francis was more than a church leader; he was a lighthouse of hope and compassion, always alongside the humblest and needy,” he posted Bezerra, in his X account.
