Truck driver Ubiratan Rodrigues da Nova planned to return to Brazil by motorhome with his wife and three children. The idea of traveling from the USA to Brazil by car emerged as an alternative to the high cost of an air ICU.
The motorhome trip from Orlando, Florida, to Juiz de Fora would last between 50 and 60 days. The route passes through Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
Fabíola had a sudden illness at home at the end of 2024, while her husband was traveling to Texas. She fainted in front of her children and had to be rushed to the hospital. The person responsible for helping her was Arthur, the eldest son, who had been in the USA for a few months. Even without knowing how to drive well, he managed to drive his mother to medical care.
