By court decision, former councilman Gabriel Monteiro leaves prison
Former Councilman Gabriel Monteiro was released on Friday night (21) by determination of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ). The former parliamentarian and former military policeman was revoked by the Rio de Janeiro City Council in August 2022. The session was held on the 18th and lasted six and a half hours. Monteiro was revoked by 48 votes in favor of cassation and two opposite votes. Monteiro, who was also a military police officer, was expelled from the corporation.
He left the Bangu 8 prison in the Gericino Penitentiary Complex and will have to comply with precautionary measures such as wearing an electronic anklet and not leaving Rio de Janeiro.
The parliamentarian was tried for breach of parliamentary decorum by staging with a minor in a mall Center, assault on a homeless man invited to stagnate a theft in Lapa, Rio Bohemian area and video recorded with a minor, which then had the images leaked on the internet. The student lived in the same condominium as the councilman in Barra da Tijuca.
By note, the Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration (Seap) reported that it received from court, early Friday night (21), the release permit of Gabriel Luiz Monteiro de Oliveira, and performed the usual procedures for the aforementioned to leave the arrest.
