Can I vote without a voter registration card?
Next Sunday (6), 155 million Brazilians eligible to vote will be able to attend their polling stations to choose their future mayor and deputy mayor of their cities, in addition to the councilors who will make up the Municipal Chambers, in the first round of the 2024 municipal elections.
On election day, it is very common for citizens to forget to bring their voter registration card when identifying themselves to the poll workers. A frequent question associated with this is whether it would be possible to vote anyway. And the answer is yes.

When voting, it is mandatory to present an official document with a photo to prove your identity.
In addition to the voter registration card and the e-Título, the following documents are considered valid: identity card (General Registry or RG) or social identity (in the case of trans and transvestite people); passport; reservist certificate (for men who performed military service in the reserve); work card or professional category recognized by law; and National Driving License (CNH).
These documents can be used even if they are out of date, as long as you can prove your identity.
Birth or marriage certificates are not valid as official documents, and will not be accepted by the poll worker on voting day (i.e., they are not valid for the voting process).

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) recommends that voters make sure their documents are valid and in good condition to avoid setbacks. And it recommends preparing documents in advance, as well as prior consultation on the voting zone and section.
The Electoral Court also establishes that, if there is doubt as to the identity of the voter, even if they are in possession of the electoral card and official document with photo, the president of the table may request an additional check − which may include verification of the data in the official voting book, signature verification and recording of details in the minutes.
