Car invades market, kills at least 2 and leaves 68 injured in Germany; look
There are two dead and 68 injured, according to the local government. It was confirmed that one of the dead was a child, but his identity was not revealed. Police and emergency services are at the scene, treating injured people in tents while they wait for ambulances.
Among the injured, 15 are in serious condition. According to the local city hall, 37 are in moderate condition and 16 with minor injuries. Seven platoons of firefighters, including volunteers and professionals, with 100 men, are involved in the incident.
“We believe it was an attack,” a spokeswoman for the Interior Ministry for the Saxony-Anhalt region told AFP. Until 10pm local time (6pm Brasília time), the authorities were not talking about terrorism. Hours after the incident, the police ruled out the presence of explosives in the car used by the suspect. Previously, security forces had isolated the vehicle for investigation.
