CMPI president of the INSS: “Government wanted little visibility, but it will have wear”

President of the INSS CPI, Senator Carlos Viana (Somos-MG) was elected in an opposition articulation and says that the wear and tear for the Planalto Palace throughout the commission will be inevitable. “They wanted a CPI with little visibility and transparency. The population already said that the CPI would come to nothing. We want a serious investigation. The wear and tear for the government will emerge. It was in Lula that the scandal was discovered. The parliamentarian says Frei Chico, brother of President Lula and vice president of a union, may be called if there is proof of any involvement with the fraud, which was not identified by the investigations in progress in the Federal Police. Viana also states that he will have a meeting with Minister André Mendonça, rapporteur in the Supreme Court (STF) of the case of the INSS, to request access to inquiries.

My name was the only one in center that could have votes on both sides. The defeat of the government is not for me. They wanted a CPI with little visibility and transparency. The population already said that the CPI would give nothing. We want a serious investigation without ideology, focused on the facts. It all depends on the head of those who are commanding, this is what shows my experience in CPIs. We started well with consensus on the requirements, in the work plan. On Thursday we will hear the first INSS employees, and next Monday the lawyer who made the complaints.

The Planalto Palace fears the effects of the CPI. Will you conduct the commission to meet the opposition and wear out the government?

The wear and tear for the government will emerge. It was in the Lula administration that the scandal was discovered. But we will also have wear to the Bolsonaro government with the call of his ministers. It is from the game of Parliament.

The base tries to avoid the summons of Friar Chico, brother of President Lula and vice president of a union. Will he be called?

The rapporteur and I have a definition that we will only call those who are linked to facts. If we have the proof that he has any involvement with fraud, he will be summoned and it matters little if he is the president’s brother. But we will not do this for political motivation, to please the opposition.

Governors sought the Lord with any specific request, as not to summon the president’s brother?

I talked to (minister) Gleisi (Hoffmann) and senators Randolfe (Rodrigues) and Jaques Wagner. The three only asked me to predictability and one agenda that allows joints. This commitment is made.

The work plan encompasses the governments Dilma, Temer, Bolsonaro and Lula. Will there be proportionality among the summoned?

All social security ministers will be invited. Who was superintendent is summoned. They will have to explain what they did to avoid the fraud. With this we already have three or four months of work. Hence, we left with the investigations. The CPI is starting from scratch, we need to have our tests. This Wednesday, I will ask Minister André Mendonça to share the inquiries of the Federal Police. Thus, we would not have to go back on some fronts, besides confronting the testimonials with PF investigations

Strong names aligned with the government, such as Senators Omar Aziz and Renan Calheiros have already left the CPI. To what extent does this strengthen opposition?

It changes little if they are replaced by governors.
