Cubans occupy 10% of the vacancies of Mais Médicos, a target program of the USA
Cuban professionals are now occupying only 10% of the vacancies of the Mais Médicos program, which yesterday was the target of US government attacks with the suspension of visa of Brazilian authorities.
According to the program’s monitoring panel, there are 26,414 active professionals across the country, 2,659 of them Cubans. This percentage was over 60% in the past decade.
Of the Cuban professionals, not all are exchange students: 1,064 of them are doctors who have gone through the Revalida test, that is, they got the registration in the CRM (Regional Council of Medicine) in Brazil. The other 1,593 are exchange students and only come to the country to occupy vacancies not filled by Brazilians – with revalidated or not.
