Daniel Silveira asks for progression to the open regime after taking courses and reading books
The defense of former federal deputy Daniel Silveira asked on Wednesday, 27, to the Federal Supreme Court the progression of semi-open regime to open. According to Silveira’s lawyers, the former military police officer would be entitled to 113 days of redemption of penalty for readings, vocational courses and works carried out at the Magé Penitentiary (RJ). The rapporteur of the case is Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who will have to decide on the request.
In the request, the defense listed the readings and courses made by Silveira. The books Crime and punishment, The prince, The Vinci Code, Posthumous Memories of Brás Cubas, The Art of War, The process, The man who calculated, The return to the world in 80 days, The Boy of the Striped Pajamas, Captains of Sand, 1984 and The Animal Revolution They entitle you to 48 days with a penalty.
According to lawyers Michael Pinheiro and Paulo César de Faria, the readings were validated by a commission, as determined by the National Council of Justice.

According to the lawyers, Silveira also completed the education and school accounting courses, which allowed 15 days of redemption. The former deputy would also have completed 92 days of work, which offer a 30-day redemption and two hours of the sentence.
The progression of the former deputy for the open regime was scheduled for December 15 this year. By defense calculations, considering the redemption of the sentence, the deadline could be anticipated for August 23.
The lawyers also asked Silveira to be able to comply with the spending at home on an exceptional basis. “Given the excess of time and the situation of Mr. Daniel who is undergoing postoperative treatment having to leave and return every day to stay overnight in the Agricultural Colony of Magé, the defense requires that the learned minister grants the appellant’s point of inclusion in the applicant’s residence,” said the defense.
Silveira performed knee surgery about a month ago. After the procedure, the lawyers asked the former deputy to be under house arrest to do necessary treatments after the operation. The request, however, was denied.
