Daniel Silveira asks for ‘Saidinha’ from Easter to Moraes
Former federal deputy Daniel Silveira (PTB-RJ) requested authorization from the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to temporarily leave the semi-open regime and pass the Easter with the family. It is up to Minister Alexandre de Moraes to decide whether or not to authorize the “Saidinha”.
The defense argues that he has already fulfilled more than one sixth of the penalty – one of the requirements provided for in the criminal execution law for granting the benefit. The other is the good behavior, which according to his lawyers he has also proved by devoting himself to work and academic activities.
“During the period of imprisonment, the reeducating was constantly dedicated to work and studies as attested by (e-Doc 603/604), developing productive activities that contributed significantly to their resocialization,” says the request.

Daniel Silveira was sentenced by the Supreme Court to eight years and nine months in prison for defending undemocratic guidelines, such as the dismissal of court ministers and the military dictatorship.
The former deputy was even on parole, but was again arrested on Christmas Eve for breaking the night home collection time (from 22h to 6h) established as counterpart for the flexibility of the arrest regime.
