‘Dark Horse’: Film about Bolsonaro will feature star of The Passion of the Christ
Former president Jair Bolsonaro will be the subject of the film Dark Horse. The production, which aims to revisit the 2018 presidential campaign and the former president’s trajectory, moves forward with new confirmations in the cast.
Scheduled for 2026, the film will bring together names of different nationalities, including a Mexican heartthrob, the star of The Passion of the Christ and an American filmmaker.

Marcus Ornellas will play Flávio Bolsonaro
Marcus Ornellas, 43 years old, was cast to play Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL). Born in Brazil and residing in Mexico for two decades, the heartthrob built a solid career at Televisa and became known for roles in popular dramas in the country. In Brazil, he gained prominence when he starred in the soap opera Se Nos Deixam (2021), shown by SBT.
Edward Finlay as Eduardo Bolsonaro
Another name involved in the production is Edward Finlay, who will play federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL). Born in Miami, the actor is known for his appearances in films such as + Fast + Furious (2003), Bad Boys II (2003) and the series Ocean Ave. (2002).
Jim Caviezel tipped to play Jair Bolsonaro
The role of Jair Bolsonaro should go to Jim Caviezel, a 57-year-old American actor who achieved international fame by playing Jesus in The Passion of the Christ (2004). He returned to the spotlight with Sound of Freedom (2023), in which he played Tim Ballard. Caviezel also gained popularity on television with the series Pessoa de Interesse (2011-2016). Although his name has been associated with the project since August, he has not yet officially confirmed his participation.
Filmmaker Cyrus Nowrasteh directs the project
The direction is in charge of the American Cyrus Nowrasteh, known for productions that dialogue with religious and political themes. Among his best-known works are The Stoning of Soraya M. (2008), The Young Messiah (2016) and International Kidnapping (2019) – the latter starring Caviezel.
