Datafolha: 48% of Brazilians defend Bolsonaro’s arrest for coup attempt
The percentage of Brazilians in favor of the arrest of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for attempted coup d’état went from 52% in April to 48% at the end of July, according to Datafolha poll released on Friday, 1st. Already the number of Brazilians who evaluate that Bolsonaro should not be arrested was 42% to 46% in the same period.
With this, the difference between those in favor and against the penalty was 10 percentage points for 2 pp. The difference, however, is considered an oscillation on the edge margin limit. In both April and July, 6% said they did not know how to give an opinion on the subject.
Datafolha heard 2,004 people 16 years or older on July 29 and 30. The margin of error is 2 points for more or less.

The survey also shows that 51% of respondents believe that the former president will not be arrested, compared to 40% that they evaluate that the outcome will be chain.
Bolsonaro already complies restrictive measures, such as the use of an electronic anklet, determined by Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Court, after the offensive of US President Donald Trump to rid the political ally of the process. The former Brazilian president will still be tried at the Court for participation in the alleged attempted coup after the 2022 elections.
