Doctors Without Borders says 94% of Gaza hospitals are destroyed
Doctors Without Borders promoted this week at the Brazilian Press Association (ABI) in downtown Rio de Janeiro, a meeting with professionals to tell about the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
On March 2 this year, Israel forbade the entry and exit of supplies and medical inputs from the Gaza Strip. On March 18, Israel ended the ceasefire and resumed the bombing.
“There are 365 square kilometers for a population of 2.2 million, but people are concentrated in only 15% of the territory. It is now a much lower territory due to the dumping orders and the militarized regions by Israel.
The Gaza Strip is a Palestinian territory that has been the target of intense bombing and army attacks from the Israeli army from an attack by the Israeli Hamas group in October 2023, which left about 1,200 dead and made 220 hostages. Hamas, who rules Gaza, maintains that the attack was a response to the siege of more than 17 years imposed on the enclave and also the occupation of Palestinian territories by Israel.
The Israeli attacks against the Gaza Strip, since then, have had more than 56,000 victims and left over 100,000 injured, and destroy hospitals, schools and all kinds of infrastructure that provides services to the population. A blockade to the territory borders also make it difficult to enter food and medicines, aggravating the humanitarian crisis. According to Israel, the goal is to rescue the hostages that are still with Hamas and eliminate the group completely.
