Eduardo Bolsonaro changes his version and claims to have raised US$50,000 for his father's film

The former federal deputy and son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, Eduardo Bolsonaro, changed this Friday (15) his version about his participation in the film about his father’s life, “Dark Horse”. After new report on the website The Intercept Brazilwhich revealed alleged contracts in which the former parliamentarian signs as the executive product of the feature film, Eduardo claimed to have participated in fundraising.

In a video published on his social networks, the former deputy confirms that he worked to raise the money that would be used to pay the film’s director. According to him, the money was raised after taking a policy course called “Conservative Action”.

“With the money from the Conservative Action resources, I took R$350,000, turned it into around US$50,000 and sent it to the United States,” he said. “The idea was to attract investors to make production viable. We managed to keep the director hired for two years, fully assuming the risks”, he added.

According to him, the money was handed over to Mario Frias, former Minister of Culture during the Bolsonaro administration and who also signed the document released by the Intercept as executive producer of the production.

Previously, Eduardo had said that he did not participate in the management of the film.

The former deputy’s statement aimed to deny having received money from Daniel Vorcaro, former owner of Banco Master, for the film’s production.

Senator and presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro had also spoken out about Eduardo’s involvement in the film. Flávio had denied that his brother had received resources from Vorcaro and, according to him, Eduardo had put money from his own pocket into the production.
