Eduardo Bolsonaro defends Wajngarten and says that dismissal of the PL was “confused”
Licensed deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) came out in defense of Fábio Wajngarten, former PL communication secretary and historic ally of former President Jair Bolsonaro, after the controversy of the party’s lawyer.
In a publication on Wednesday (2), Eduardo stated that Wajngarten would have “a thousand reasons” to turn against the party or the former president, but chose to maintain loyalty.
“Wajngarten met us before 2018, at a time when very few adhered to the Jair Bolsonaro project. He has no mandate, left the PL in a confusing way, that is, he would have a thousand reasons to revolt and throw stones at JB/PL,” Eduardo wrote in his account at X (former Twitter).

Wajngarten’s resignation occurred in May, after the leakage of messages exchanged with Mauro Cid, a former presidential order and also investigated in the inquiry into the attempted coup. The conversation, of January 27, 2023, occurred shortly after the hypothesis that the PL launched Michelle Bolsonaro as an electoral alternative if Jair Bolsonaro was ineligible in 2026.
In the exchange of messages, Cid sends news about Michelle’s possible candidacy, which he replies: “I prefer Lula.” Wajngarten then agrees: “idem.”
Despite the negative repercussion between Michelle’s allies and the most ideological wing of pockets, Wajngarten did not criticize Bolsonaro after his departure from the party.
In an interview with CNN Brazil Also on Wednesday, Wajngarten tried to contain the damage to his image within the pocket field. He said that if Jair Bolsonaro cannot compete in the 2026 elections, his two preferred names to replace him are Eduardo Bolsonaro himself and Michelle Bolsonaro.
Signaling is interpreted as a gesture of political rapprochement after weeks of wear between the wings of the PL.
PL reaction
Wajngarten’s resignation occurred amid a scenario of instability in the command of the PL communication, which tries to find viable alternatives to 2026 in the face of legal uncertainty involving Jair Bolsonaro. The caption faces the challenge of maintaining unity among its more traditional paintings, pure pockets and groups that already consider an electoral “plan”.
The repercussion of the case highlights the internal divisions in Bolsonarism, between sectors faithful to Michelle Bolsonaro, advocates of Eduardo’s candidacy and allies who, like Wajngarten, already consider new paths-including less resistance to names of the center right or even moderate opposition.
