Wildlife rescue teams were called. The SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty Against Animals) reported the beginning of the operation on social networks this morning.

A coordinated rescue plan is currently in action in Gordon’s Bay to help a sub-adult male elephant to return to your home in the ocean

Animal had to be sedated. Authorities asked the population to avoid the area until the operation was completed.

Rescue lasted hours. Later, also through social networks, SPCA reported that the animal returned to its natural habitat safely. The operation had the help of various agencies and the community.
