Even with Trump fare, Brazil exports more steel to the USA in March

Although it was the best month, it was already possible to observe some effect of the rate. Comparing only the year 2025, exports in February totaled $ 540 million for a number of 630 million pounds of steel, aluminum and derived products. Considering the March data, there was a drop in revenues of approximately 8.5%.

Steel performed better than aluminum. The MDIC survey also brought the export data separated by the products. The amount of steel exported by Brazil was 40.3% higher in March this year than in 2024, jumping from 471 million pounds to 661 million pounds. The value marketed also rose 6.1%. Category “Other Products” was also elevated in the amount exported (27.7%) and revenues (19.1%), and has been growing since the beginning of the year.

Already the sale of aluminum plummeted 39.6% compared between March 2025 and 2024. Last month were sold 4 million pounds, compared to 6.6 million pounds by 2024. The value fell 37.9%. Leaving $ 25 million in 2024 to $ 15 million this year. Observing only the 2025 data, February was the best month, when 15 million pounds of metal were sold.
