Father and daughter die in plane crash carrying aid to Jamaica
Victims were identified as a pastor and eldest daughter. Alexander Wurm, 53, and Serena Wurn, 22, were on board.
He was a pastor and founder of the Ignite the Fire group, a Christian ministry that carries out missions and spreads evangelism in the Caribbean. No condominium resident was injured.
The two were going to Jamaica to deliver supplements after Hurricane Melissa. The country was most affected by the storm, which reached the highest category and had winds of 300 km/h. Sixty people died in the Caribbean.
Group asked for prayers in statement. Ignite the Fire stated that Alexander “did not hesitate to help the region” in the face of local devastation and that he “saved lives and gave his own life for the people and nations he carried in his heart.” As for Serena, the group defined her as “an example of empathy and hope.”
Alexander and Serena Wrum are survived by their wife and mother, Candace, and two sons and brothers, James, 17, and daughter Christiana, 20.. “Once again, we ask that you pray for his family and friends,” the ministry added.
