Flávio says he is “appalled” by some leaders “arising from Bolsonaro’s side”

In a publication with a complimentary tone to the political trajectory of his father, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) sent hints to political allies, in the same week that disagreements occur within their party, the PL.

Without citing any specific episode, the senator said he was “appalled” when he saw political leaders, according to him, who emerged “from his father’s own side”, not following the former president’s guidance. The publication was made on his Twitter profile (formerly X) in the early afternoon of this Wednesday, 22nd.

Flávio Bolsonaro also described such actions as “lack of consideration” and “ignorance of how the game of power works in Brazil”.

This Monday, the 20th, Bolsonaro gave a “scolding” to his former Minister of Science and Technology, now Senator Astronauta Marcos Pontes (PL-SP), who launched himself as a candidate to run for president of the Senate without the party’s approval. .

Calling the supporter’s stance “regrettable”, Bolsonaro said at the time that if the party “embarks on the candidacy” of the senator, it will end up running out of committees. The Bolsonarist acronym supports the election of senator Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), a strategic agreement for the PL to gain space and projects dear to the former president to gain momentum in the House.

This Wednesday, 22nd, in an interview with UOLMarcos Pontes reaffirmed that he will run for the position, which will be decided on February 1st, and said that “a friend is like that: sometimes he agrees, sometimes he doesn’t”.

‘Clean right’

Flávio also makes reference to those who put his father as “a card outside the deck”, and stated that “God will give Bolsonaro a second chance to govern Brazil”. Ineligible until 2030, the former president also, hours earlier, criticized the initiative of “young” candidates, who call themselves “third way” and would represent a “clean right” for the 2026 elections.

In an interview with the channel AuriVerde Brasil on YouTube, Bolsonaro stated that “young” candidates and who claim to be a “third way” will not solve the country’s problems. He remains ineligible until 2030.

The statements came one day after federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) and former candidate for Mayor of São Paulo Pablo Marçal (PRTB) met in Washington, United States, where they traveled to attend the president’s inauguration American Donald Trump. Bolsonaro did not travel because his request to return his passport was denied by the courts.

At the meeting, the former coach referred to Nikolas as “president of Brazil in 2034?, referring to the election year in which the 28-year-old from Minas Gerais, in theory, could run for President. In addition to Marçal himself, who says he is a possible candidate, the name of singer Gusttavo Lima was also launched as a possibility to represent the right. The countryman stated at the beginning of the month that he is considering the possibility, placing himself as a candidate neither on the right nor on the left.

‘Old canoe’

During the interview, Bolsonaro compared himself to “an old canoe to cross the river full of piranhas” and stated that if he is not the one running in 2026, the election “will not be democratic”.

“Don’t keep inventing ‘third way’, ‘clean right’, making little gestures back and forth, with your inexperience, with your, even, good will, but you have no way of facing, nowadays, the system by the people.”

Still pointing out possible right-wing candidates to run in 2026, the former head of the federal Executive held back and said he did not want to “give hints” that would identify who he was referring to. “Some young people are already launching themselves as candidates, ‘I’ll solve it’, on the basis of sealing… I don’t want to say here any tips on who these people would be.”

Bolsonaro was convicted by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) on three occasions, and two sentences remain in force. There is no sum to the time of convictions, therefore, by law, the penalties prevent the former president from running for elected office again until 2030.

When talking about the Federal Police investigation that culminated in his indictment on suspicion of a coup d’état in 2022, the former president compared an alleged persecution by Democrats of Republicans in the United States, with, in Brazil, the dynamics between his party and the PT, stating that the PT members “have been working for years to annihilate the PL”.

“It is the biggest opposition party to them (PT). The majority of deputies, unfortunately, are not all – there are a dozen opportunists in the PL, which I hope will be cleaned up in 2026 – who are committed to the future of the country”, he stated.
