Former minister Raul Jungmann dies at age 73 in Brasília
The former minister and former federal deputy Raul Jungmann died on Sunday night (17), in Brasília. The politician, elected federal deputy three times, was admitted to DF Star for treatment for pancreatic cancer.
Jungmann was minister on five occasions, three of them in the government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso, when he held the portfolios of Environment, Agrarian Development and Land Policies. During the Temer government, he held the Ministry of Defense and in 2018 he was Minister of Public Security.
A native of Pernambuco, Jungamnn began to become active in politics in the PCB, with the party still in hiding. He was elected councilor in Recife. Afterwards, he helped found the PPS, where he stayed until 2018.
