Bolivians protest against lack of gasoline
Thousands of Bolivians went to the streets yesterday in protests against the lack of fuel and the high price of food.
Two demonstrations, one of indigenous people and one summoned by drivers, took streets of the capital, La Paz, and the city of El Alto.
The country has faced a serious currency crisis since 2023, which limits its ability to import oil.
According to the People’s Defender, public policy supervision body, 60% of the country’s posts are out of fuel.
“The lack of fuel harms us a lot in the field,” complained indigenous leader Leonardo Quispe. Last week, in an attempt to circumvent the problem, the government of Luis Arce announced the adoption of remote classes and reducing the public transport fleet.
